Kabul: A huge explosion outside the military airport in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, killed and injured many people.
According to a foreign news agency, the spokesperson of the Afghan Ministry of Interior confirmed the explosion, but did not specify its nature.
Abdul Nafi Thakur said that many innocent civilians were martyred and injured in the explosion outside Kabul Military Airport, On receiving information about the incident, rescue agencies and security forces reached and cordoned off the incident site and sealed the area, while all roads were closed.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion took place around 8 am in the military area of the heavily guarded airport complex.
The rescue workers have shifted the dead bodies and the injured to the hospital, where the condition of several injured is said to be critical, as a result of which the death toll is feared to rise.
Security forces are conducting a search operation in the area to arrest the suspects. An investigation into the incident has been started and the nature of the blast is being ascertained. So far, no organization has claimed responsibility for the blast.
It should be noted that ISIS has recently carried out several attacks in Afghanistan, in which Pakistani and Russian embassies were also targeted, while the office of the former Afghan prime minister was also attacked.
