Afghanistan: Flood death toll exceeds 182, thousands of houses destroyed

Kabul: 182 people have been killed in floods in different provinces of Afghanistan in the last one month.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Taliban interim government, has said in a statement that 182 people have been killed and 250 injured as a result of the floods caused by heavy rains across the country.

The flood water has destroyed 3 thousand 109 houses, while thousands of hectares of agricultural land have been flooded, Mohammad Naseem Haqqani, the spokesman of the Afghanistan Disaster Department, has also said that we are continuing operations to provide immediate aid to the flood victims.

On the other hand, the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains and flash floods in 24 provinces of the country for the next two days.
