Sharjah: In Asia Cup 2022, Afghanistan also defeated Bangladesh after Sri Lanka.
The Afghan team achieved the target by hitting a six on the third ball of the 18th over. Vice-captain Najibullah Zadran played an unbeaten innings of 43 runs and Ibrahim Zadran scored 42 runs, the Bangladeshi team could get out only three players of the Afghan team. Hazratullah Zazai scored 23 runs, Rahmanullah Grubbs 11 runs and captain Muhammad Nabi scored 8 runs. Afghanistan have qualified for the next stage by winning both the group matches.
Earlier, the Bangladesh batting team did not get off to a good start with 4 wickets for 28 runs. After that, the fifth wicket fell by 53 runs, the sixth wicket by 89 runs and the seventh wicket by 127 runs. Opener Muhammad Naeem 6, Inamul Haq 5, captain Shakib Al Hasan 11, Mushfiqur Rahim 1 run, Afif Hussain 12, Mahmudullah 25 and Mehdi Hasan 14 were out. On behalf of Afghanistan, Mujeebur Rahman and Rashid Khan dismissed three players each while one player was run out. It should be noted that Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the opening match of the Asia Cup.
