Asia Cup: Sri Lanka defeated Afghanistan in the Super Four stage

UAE: Sri Lanka defeated Afghanistan by 4 wickets in the Asia Cup.

In the first match of the Super Four stage played in Sharjah, Sri Lanka achieved the target of 176 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the last over.

For Sri Lanka, Kaushal Mendes scored 36, Pathum Nissanka 35, Dhanushka Gunathilaka 33 and Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 31 runs. Vinando Hasaranga de Silva remained unbeaten on 16 runs.

On behalf of Afghanistan, Mujeebur Rahman and Naveen ul Haq took 2, 2 wickets while Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi took 1, 1 wicket.

Earlier, batting first at Sri Lanka’s invitation, Afghanistan scored 175 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

On behalf of Afghanistan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 84 runs off 45 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 4 fours. Ibrahim Zadran scored 40 runs, Najibullah Zadran scored 17 runs and Hazratullah Zazai scored 13 runs.

For Sri Lanka, Dilshan Madhushanka took 2 wickets while Asitha Fernando and Mahesh Thakshana took 1 and 1 wickets.
