Astronaut: Walter Cunningham dies at 90

Washington: Apollo 7 astronaut Walter Cunningham has died at the age of 90.

American astronaut Walter Cunningham from NASA was part of the Apollo 7 program that completed a successful 11-day mission in space in 1968 and was also honored with Emmy Awards for live TV broadcasts from space.

Walter Cunningham paved the way for Apollo 11 to land on the moon in less than a year.

NASA has confirmed Walter’s death and said in a statement that Walter played an important role in the successful program of our lunar landing.
