Avalanche in Himalayas kills 2 mountaineers; 19 missing

New Delhi: 2 climbers were killed and 19 are missing after an avalanche in the Himalayan mountain range of India.

According to Indian media, 19 people were receiving mountaineering training in the Himalayas through a local institute. Meanwhile, an avalanche fell on them, resulting in the death of 2 climbers and 19 missing.

A rescue team was sent to help the mountaineers trapped in the avalanche, which has recovered 2 bodies from the debris, but the other 19 mountaineers could not be traced. Due to darkness and bad weather, the rescue operation had to be stopped.

The rescue work will be resumed when the weather improves, however, the death toll is expected to increase. All the climbers trapped in the avalanche are from India.
