ISLAMABAD: Britain has announced 1.5 million pounds for relief activities due to flood damage in Pakistan.

The British High Commission said in a statement that the UK will provide 1.5 million pounds of aid in the form of relief activities to combat this natural disaster, 700,000 homes have been destroyed in Pakistan, heavy monsoon rains have affected millions of people. Britain is providing urgent aid to Pakistan after floods killed at least 900 people in the south of the country.

The British High Commission said the United Nations is assessing disaster needs in Pakistan this weekend, and is expected to launch a UN appeal (for aid to Pakistan) on Tuesday.
