The Chinese citizen took the daughter to court for not maintaining her hygiene and blocking the number.
According to foreign media reports, a citizen named Zheng needed to be taken care of after a car accident. His daughter was a university student who refused the treatment of her father.
Zheng called and texted Betty after the accident to come home and take care of her, but Betty blocked the number.
The father filed a lawsuit against the daughter in the court for a monthly maintenance of 1500 Yuan.
Article 26 of the Chinese Civil Code states that adult children are responsible for the protection and support of their parents.
The daughter took a position in the court that she can’t take care of her father after leaving her education, she has two brothers too, the father should tell them, not to put pressure on me.
After hearing the arguments of both sides, the court said that under Article 26 the parents are definitely responsible for the children but in this case the daughter is still studying and cannot pay the father’s expenses.
The judge, however, asked the daughter to deal with the father sensitively, so that her education is not affected.
