Doha: Portugal defeated Switzerland by 6 goals to 1 in the pre-quarter final match of the ongoing football world cup in Qatar.
At the FIFA World Cup, Portugal beat Switzerland by a tennis score, outclassing them by six goals to one, to reach the quarter-finals.
Goncillo Ramos, who replaced Ronaldo in the first XI in the match, managed to score the first hat-trick of the current World Cup, other goals of the winning team were scored by Pepe, Rafael Guerrero and Liao.
The star player Cristiano Ronaldo was not part of Portugal’s first XI in the match played at the Lucille Stadium. It was the first time in 14 years and 31 matches that Ronaldo was not included in the first playing XI of his country. He was replaced by Goncillo Ramos, who did not miss the legendary player and scored three goals to become the first player to score a hat-trick in the ongoing World Cup.
Portugal scored four goals in the first half to make the match one-sided. In the second half of the game, the Portuguese team managed to score two more goals, while Akanji scored the only goal for Switzerland.
Ronaldo also came on as a substitute 20 minutes before the end of the game, he drove the ball into the opposing team’s net but was ruled offside, the match ended with a six-to-one victory for Portugal.
Portugal will face Morocco in the quarter-final.
