India: 2 New Subtypes of Corona Variant Omicrone Revealed 

New Delhi: Two new subtypes of the Covid-19 type Omicrone BF.7 and BQ.1 have been identified in India.

According to local media reports, Maharashtra state has reported cases of more subtypes of OmiCrone variant BA.20.3.2 and BQ.1, which have been diagnosed for the first time in the country in a sample taken from a patient in Pune. BQ.1 is a branch of BA.5, a sub-variant of BF7 that was detected by the Gujarat Biotechnology Research Center on 14 October.

Another sub-variant of Omicrone, XBB, has been identified from the southwestern state of Maharashtra. This sub-variant was previously diagnosed in southern Kerala.
