India increasing the rap crime: The United States has warned its citizens against traveling to India

Washington: The United States has warned its citizens against traveling to India due to crime and terrorism.

In a new travel advisory issued by Washington, the US Department of the Interior has lowered the India travel advisory level to 2 on a scale of 1 to 4.

Officials in India report that rape is one of the fastest growing crimes in India, with violent crimes such as rape occurring at tourist destinations and other locations, according to the US Travel Advisory.

Terrorists can strike with little or no warning, targeting tourist destinations, transportation hubs, markets/shopping malls and government facilities, the advisory said.

The travel advisory said the U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in rural areas from eastern Maharashtra and northern Telangana to western West Bengal because U.S. government employees have special permission to travel to these areas, must be obtained.
