Iran: US sanctions on state media violate Iranians' rights

Tehran: Iran has condemned Washington’s sanctions on the country’s state TV, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), and its affiliate network Press TV.

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Nasser Kanani has said that the ban on Iranian media is intended to prevent Iranians from expressing their views to the rest of the world. 6 senior employees of IRIB have been sanctioned.

He added that the sanctions are a continued violation of the rights of the Iranian people and an attempt to allow anti-Iranian networks and media to continue their malicious actions against the Iranian nation.

It alleged that IRIB had aired hundreds of forced confessions of dual nationals, Iranian nationals and international prisoners in Iran, saying US crimes against independent nations and governments were endless.
