New York: Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi canceled an interview with an American journalist for refusing to wear a headscarf.
According to the American media, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi refused to give an interview to CNN’s chief international anchor Christian Amanpour for refusing to wear a scarf.
And so we walked away. The interview didn’t happen. As protests continue in Iran and people are being killed, it would have been an important moment to speak with President Raisi. 7/7 pic.twitter.com/kMFyQY99Zh

Shortly before the interview, the Iranian president’s team made a condition for the American journalist to wear a scarf, which he rejected.
Christiane Amanpour’s position was that she wears a scarf according to local laws and customs while reporting in Iran, but in New York, she does not. There is no law or custom.
He further said that she has interviewed every Iranian president since 1995, but no Iranian president outside of Iran has imposed the condition of wearing a scarf. According to the reports, the American journalist’s interview with the Iranian President was scheduled in advance on the occasion of the United Nations General Assembly session.
