Jonny Bairstow: Announcement of not playing cricket this year after leg surgery

London/Karachi: Before the T20 World Cup, England batsman Jonny Bairstow has announced that he will not be able to play cricket this year due to surgery on his leg.

Jonny Bairstow suffered an injury last month after slipping while playing golf. The English batsmen will miss the T20 World Cup in Australia and the Test series in Pakistan after that.

The English batsman announced on his social media account Instagram, detailing that his leg was fractured in three places between the shin and the ankle, which required a plate to be fixed.

Jonny Bairstow said: “It’s been three weeks since the leg surgery and my staples have been removed. Now that the swelling has gone down, the next few weeks or months are critical for the leg to heal.”

He said that it is too early to say anything about a return to the game as he is hopeful that the leg will improve.

It should be noted that England’s best batsman Jonny Bairstow is out of the first World Cup due to injury, but now he will not be able to play the ODI series against Australia and the Test series against Pakistan.
