Karnataka: The Supreme Court's larger bench will hear the case against the ban on hijab 

New Delhi: The case against the hijab ban in the Indian state of Karnataka has been referred to a larger bench of the Supreme Court.

A 2-member bench of the Supreme Court of India heard the petition of Muslim girls against the ban on wearing hijab in Karnataka. One judge ruled against the hijab, while another judge remarked that anyone has the right to decide to wear or not wear the hijab.

After the split decision of the Indian Supreme Court Bench, the Supreme Court referred the matter to the Supreme Court and recommended the formation of a larger bench to hear the case.

The Karnataka government has imposed a ban on female students wearing hijab in educational institutions, against which Muslim students have filed a case in the Supreme Court.
