ISLAMABAD: The Khalistan Referendum in four countries, around 208,000 Sikhs took part in the demand for the liberation of Indian Punjab from Indian occupation, and the establishment of an independent Sikh state.
As part of this referendum campaign, which started from October last year, 4 referendums have been held in Great Britain, Geneva, Italy and Canada, in which the Sikh community actively participated in large numbers.
The latest round of referendum in this regard was held on September 18 in Brampton, Canada, in which about 110,000 Sikhs, including 20 percent of the adult Sikh population, voted for an independent state.
On December 10 last year, more than 6,000 people voted for an independent Sikh state in Geneva. A similar exercise was held in Italy with the participation of 62,000 Sikhs and about 110,000 in Canada.
According to analysts, support for Khalistan among Sikhs in western capitals has gradually increased.
