Labor Shortage and Skilled: Australia Announces Increase in Immigration

Sydney: The Australian government has announced that it will increase the number of permanent immigration from 35 thousand to 195 thousand in the current financial year.

The announcement on Friday comes as Australia faces a skills and labor shortage, Home Affairs Minister Claire O’Neill said during a two-day summit of 140 representatives of local governments, trade unions, business and industry.

That next year by June 30, 2023, skilled workers will be brought into the country to address the skills shortage caused by the pandemic.
