Elon Musk: Twitter deals with surprise U-turns
Austin, Texas: Electric car maker Tesla says it sold a record 1.3 million vehicles last year, but despite the record sales, it fell short of the target set by company owner Elon Musk.
According to international media, 364,000 more vehicles were sold in 2022 than in 2021, but the company did not achieve the 50 percent growth target. In 2022, compared to 2021, sales increased by 40 percent and production by 47 percent.
The company’s sales target of 1.4 million vehicles was not met despite savings of $7,500 on the Model Y and Model 3 (which are the company’s best-selling models).
In a statement released on Monday, the company said, “Thank you to all customers, employees, suppliers, partners who have helped us achieve such a great success in 2022 despite the Covid and supply chain issues.”
