According to foreign media, there are riots in Iran after the death of Mahsia Amini, a girl in police custody. The death toll in police crackdown and violent incidents has risen to 50.
5 security personnel are also among the dead. Internet service has been suspended in various cities during the seven-day-long protests and the number of security personnel has been increased in the violence-hit areas. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has ordered an investigation to find out the causes of Mahsa Amini’s death.
22-year-old Mahsa Amini was detained by Iranian police for not wearing a hijab and three days later, after her health deteriorated, she was taken to hospital where she died on September 16.
The Iranian police denied the allegation of torturing Mehsa Amini, claiming that Mehsa Amini was taken to the hospital after suffering a heart attack.
