According to Foreign media, there was a loud explosion at the gate of the mosque in the city of Ghazrgah in the province of Herat, Afghanistan, when the well-known religious scholar Muhibur Rehman Ansari arrived there with his bodyguards. Preparations for Friday prayers were being made in the mosque and there was a large number of worshippers.
Chaos ensued after the explosion and Taliban personnel surrounded the scene. The rescue organization shifted the martyred and injured in the blast to a nearby hospital.
Herat Governor Maulvi Hameedullah Mutwakkul confirmed the martyrdom of Taliban supporter Mujibur Rehman Ansari in the bomb blast and said that his bodyguards and worshipers were also martyred, but he did not specify the number.
Eyewitnesses at the scene of the accident told Al Jazeera that the number of martyrs is 15 and many are injured. Due to the critical condition of 4 of the injured, it is feared that the number of martyrdoms will increase.
