New York: Famous American magazine Rolling Stone has included legendary Pakistani singer Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in the list of 200 greatest singers of human history.
Rolling Stone introduced Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, calling him the ‘Emperor of Qawwali’ and hailing him as an icon of the kingdom of Qawwali, and praising his family legacy spanning centuries.
According to the magazine, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan won the hearts of people all over the world with her unparalleled singing and especially her recordings and performances for Peter Gabriel’s ‘Real World Label’ in the eighties.
According to the American magazine, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s famous fans included famous singer Madonna, while Eddie Vedder sang ‘Dead Man Walking’ along with her.
The essayist further writes that Jeff Buckley called Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan ‘my Elvis’ and he also learned Urdu to work well with the teacher.
India’s famous singer Lata Mangeshkar also found a place in the list of the greatest singers and Rolling Stone called her the ‘Queen of Playback Singers’ and ‘Queen of Heads’.
