Mumbai: The cyber police of the Indian state of Maharashtra has filed a charge sheet in the court alleging that famous actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband and film director Raj Kundra along with actresses Shirley Chopra, Poonam Pandey, for OTT platforms Make obscene movies.
According to the Indian media, there has been a big progress in the pornography case. Maharashtra’s cyber police filed a 450-page charge sheet in the court based on its investigation against the big names of the industry, which has revealed some shocking revelations.
The Maharashtra police have charged Shilpa Shetty’s husband film director Raj Kundra, producer Meeta Jhunjhanwala, model Shirley Chopra and actress Poonam Pandey with making obscene films in two suburban five-star hotels and then uploading them on internet platforms. What has been charged?
Poonam Pandey is also accused of developing her own mobile app ‘The Poonam Pandey’, shooting videos with the help of Kundra’s company and uploading them on the app for financial gain and making them go viral.
Similarly, videos of Shirley Chopra were also shot while Jhanjhanwala is accused of helping and encouraging the model by scripting and directing the stories.
The chargesheet also charged Prime OTT’s Swajit Chowdhury and Kundra’s crew member Umesh Kamath for allegedly creating and uploading the obscene web series ‘Prem Pagalani’.
The accused in the distribution of Fahs films include Ryan Thorpe, IT chief of Rajkandra’s firm Viaan Enterprises, Singapore-based Yash Thakur alias Arvind Shrivastava and Rajkandra’s London-based brother-in-law Pradeep Bakshi.
In its charge sheet, the cyber police claimed that the accused had distributed obscene videos on various OTT platforms for financial gain. His cameraman was also included in this work.
The cyber police also alleged that full director Raj Kundra’s company not only aided in the crime but also encouraged him for financial gains when he knew it was a punishable offence.
Also, they were looking for more models who have worked in porn videos or web series.
It may be noted that in April 2021, Mumbai Police’s crime branch had filed its own separate chargesheet, while in September of the same year, a supplementary chargesheet in the sensational prostitution racket case came to light after a raid on a Madh Island bungalow in February 2021. .
On the basis of which the Mumbai Police accused Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra of making around 100 obscene films while freezing the bank accounts of the accused Thakur in Singapore, the statements of 43 witnesses were recorded in the case.
Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra was arrested in a raid at her home in July 2021 after the high-profile case was uncovered by the Mumbai Police’s crime branch, but was released on bail two months later.
It may be noted that for the first time, the Cyber Police had registered a case in 2019 alleging that Arms Prime Media Ltd director Raj Kundra was making obscene videos and distributing them on certain websites.
