Moscow: Several regions of Ukraine under the administration of Moscow have announced that they will hold a referendum on joining Russia. The referendum will be held from September 23 to 27.
According to foreign media, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that from the beginning he has been saying that the people of the respective regions should decide their own future.
Moscow-backed separatists in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Donbas announced a referendum to join Russia, after which Kherson region and Zaporizhia region also announced voting to join Russia.
Kyiv has responded by saying that the sham votes are meaningless and has vowed to end the threat posed by Russia.
