Moscow: The Russian President has issued a decree to increase the number of armed forces.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the number of troops to increase to 1.15 million during Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine, effective January 1. The number of volunteer soldiers will be increased by drafting or the number of soldiers will be increased.
The issued order will increase the total number of Russian military personnel to 2 million 39 thousand. In the previous order, the strength of the army at the beginning of 2018 was 1,902,758 and 1,013,628 respectively.
The Kremlin has said that only volunteer contract soldiers take part in what Ukraine calls “special military operations”. A large number of students avoid the draft due to the deferrals given to them.
