RIYADH: The moon of Ramadan was not sighted in Saudi Arabia, after which it has been announced that the first fast in the kingdom will be on Thursday, March 23.
According to the news agencies, the Taraweeh prayer in Saudi Arabia will start from March 22, Wednesday, due to the absence of the moon. Earlier, the Saudi Supreme Court appealed to the people to see the moon of Ramadan and collect testimonies, however, there was no testimony of the sighting of the moon from any region of the kingdom.
In a statement issued by the Saudi Supreme Court, it has been said that there was no evidence of the sighting of the moon, therefore today is 30th Sha’ban and Ramadan will begin on Thursday, March 23rd.
Astronomers had also predicted that there is no possibility of seeing the moon of Ramadan on the evening of March 21, so the first fast is expected on March 23.
