San Francisco: New and innovative garbage cans have been designed for cities in the United States and each prototype has cost $11,000 to $20,000.
In 2018, the municipality of San Francisco set aside 550,000 dollars to design a modern garbage can, of which 3,000 bins will be made from one of the best selected designs and placed in different areas of the city. The condition was that the garbage drum should be a masterpiece of modern technology and be very beautiful to look at. That is why a lot of attention has been paid to their designing.
Conventional bins are said to tip over when the waste pickers pounce on them and the waste spills out. Now the San Francisco administration has shortlisted 3 smart trash can designs and placed them in popular locations and asked the public to vote for the best design. All three models are equipped with a sensor that sends a signal to the management when it is full. For 60 days, they have been put out in various public places and the public has been requested to vote for the best design using a QR code.
