A Spanish man who slapped his wife during a TikTok live stream has been sentenced to a year in prison.
According to the AFP news agency, the court sentenced him to one year in prison despite the refusal of Tik Toker’s wife to register the case.
A court in the Spanish city of Surya has banned a TikToker from keeping a distance of 300 meters from his wife, talking to her and keeping weapons around her for his involvement in violence against women.
According to the news agency, the incident took place during a live telecast during ‘TikTok Battle’ when a woman faced three men and the winner was to be chosen by the viewers.
In the pictures and videos that have gone viral in Spain, the said man is seen slapping his wife on the face so hard that the woman bows her head and cries.
The Spanish court ruled that the man assaulted his wife in public in front of thousands of people with the aim of violating her physical integrity and humiliating her in public.
The court further said that in cases of sexual violence, there is no need for a complaint by the victim’s wife when it is clear that a person is guilty of a crime and should be punished.
