New York: NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has expressed the expectation that Sweden and Finland will join the military alliance next year.
Talking to the German News Agency, he said that he is fully confident that this work will be done soon.
It should be noted that the requests of Sweden and Finland have been pending for several months due to the objections of NATO member Turkey.
Both countries cannot join NATO until all 30 members approve their application.
The NATO Secretary General was asked whether it would not be better to decide on the opinion of the majority in the military alliance.
Jens Stoltenberg said that there is no reason to change the NATO charter, the allies have differences on many issues.
