Switzerland: The decision to ban tobacco advertising 

Bern: Tobacco ads to be banned in Switzerland

According to the news agency from Zurich, the Swiss government says that tobacco products and e-cigarette advertisements will be banned.

The government says the ban is aimed at reducing tobacco use and deaths caused by it. The Swiss cabinet will ban tobacco and e-cigarette advertising in public places and media.

According to the Swiss government, new laws banning tobacco, e-cigarette packaging and advertising will come into effect from mid-2026. Smoking-related mortality is one of the major public health problems.

Smoking causes 9,500 premature deaths in Switzerland every year, the Swiss government added.

According to the news agency, the ban on tobacco advertising was decided in a referendum last year in Switzerland.
