T20 World Cup: India beat Bangladesh by 5 runs

Adelaide: In an important match of the T20 World Cup Super 12 stage, India defeated Bangladesh by 5 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method in a rain-affected match and secured 2 valuable points.

In the match played in Adelaide, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and invited India to bat first. Bangladesh bowler Hasan Mahmood dismissed India captain Rohit Sharma for 11 in the fourth over, making the strong batting important. India’s star batsman Virat Kohli and KL Rahul shared a second-wicket partnership to take the score to 78 runs and add to the run rate. KL Rahul was the other batsman to get out, 3 off 32 balls. He completed his half-century with the help of fours and 4 sixes and got out on the ball of Shakibul Hasan.

Surya Kumar Yadav supported Kohli on a score of 116 and got out after playing an innings of 30 runs, after which Hardik Pandya also scored just 5 runs. The score was 150 runs in 17 overs. Virat Kohli continued his responsible batting and also completed his half-century. India’s score reached 157 runs in 18 overs when Akshar Patel scored 7 runs with the help of a four. Mahmood’s wicket was the last wicket to fall for India. India scored 184 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 64, including 8 fours and a six in his 44-ball innings. Ravichandran Ashwin supported Kohli by scoring 13 runs without getting out. Hasan Mehmood of Bangladesh took the most 3 wickets.

Captain Shakib-ul-Hasan dismissed two players. With the fear of rain, Bangladesh batsmen started to chase the target, then adopted an aggressive style and scored 60 runs in the first 7 overs. Bangladesh’s other batsman to be dismissed was Najamul Hasan Shanto, who was hit by Mohammad Shami for 84 off the first ball of the 10th over. Afif Hussain was dismissed for 3 on 99, followed by Shakib Al Hasan. 13-run innings also came to an end, Bangladesh needed 51 runs to win with 6 wickets remaining. Bangladesh suffered another loss in the form of Yasir Ali at the score of 102, but Noorul Hasan fought till the end. Mossadegh Hussain scored 108 for just 6 runs, after which no wicket fell and the match was decided on the last ball. Nurul Hasan scored 25 runs off 14 balls with 2 fours and a six, while Tasin Ahmed scored 12 runs from 7 balls with the help of a four and a six. The Bangladesh team managed to score 145 runs for 6 wickets in the stipulated 16 overs and lost the match by 5 runs.
