KABUL: The Taliban’s acting defense minister has alleged that Pakistan allowed US drones to use its airspace to enter Afghanistan.
According to Arab media report, Acting Defense Minister Mullah Muhammad Yaqub told reporters at a news conference in Kabul that American drones are entering Afghanistan through Pakistan.
He said that according to our information, drones are entering Afghanistan through Pakistan, they use Pakistan’s airspace, we ask Pakistan not to use its airspace against us.
Pakistan’s foreign ministry, on the other hand, declined to comment immediately. Pakistani authorities have previously denied any involvement or knowledge of the drone strike.
Pakistan’s denial came after the US said it had killed al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in a drone strike in Kabul in July.
The Taliban said it was investigating a July airstrike in which the al-Qaida leader’s body was not found.
