KUALA LUMPUR: The King of Malaysia has appointed opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim as the new Prime Minister of the country.
According to the report of the foreign news agency, King Abdullah of Malaysia will take the oath of Anwar Ibrahim in the Malaysian Palace today.
According to the report, in the elections held in Malaysia 5 days ago, no party had won a simple majority.
Anwar Ibrahim’s alliance won with 82 seats, former prime minister Muhyiddin’s alliance was second with 73 seats.
Prime Minister Ismail Sabri’s ruling coalition came third with 30 seats, while winning 112 out of 222 seats was necessary to form the government.
