New York: The United Nations appealed to Russia and Ukraine for an immediate ceasefire.
United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres called for peace from both countries on Ukraine’s Independence Day, stressing that the Ukrainian people are in desperate need of peace at this time.
Guterres said that the results of the Russia-Ukraine senseless war are affecting other countries, including Ukraine.
The Secretary General of the United Nations emphasized that as a result of this war, the global economic and environmental crisis is increasing due to confrontation, inequality, medical problems and epidemics, which have also created new flaws in the global system. With rising food, fertilizer and fuel prices and millions of people facing hunger, poverty and undernutrition, there is a strong possibility that the world will face food shortages next year.
