Washington: The United States will return the 23 million dollars looted by the late military ruler of Nigeria.
According to the American media, the United States will return the 23 million dollars looted by the former military ruler of Nigeria, Sani Abacha. There have been several agreements between Nigeria and the US for the return of money.
Sani Abacha ruled Nigeria, one of the world’s major oil exporters, from 1993 until his death in 1998. During his tenure, he took 5 billion dollars for his personal use, which the people paid for various government taxes and schemes.
Sani Abacha was never indicted for misappropriating public funds.
Nigerian officials say that the ex-ruler’s looted money will be spent on building infrastructure in the country if it is returned.
