Washington: The US Army’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) announced that it has conducted a successful test of a hypersonic missile developed by the defense company Lockheed Martins.
The US announcement comes amid concerns that its rivals Russia and China have far more advanced hypersonic missile systems.
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) said that the ground-launched hypersonic missile was tested at the Sands Missile Range in the US state of New Mexico.
Meanwhile, in a separate test off the coast of California, the Air Force tested another hypersonic weapon. It has been named the ‘Air Launched Rapid Response Weapon’ (ARRW). The US military announced these successful tests after some failed attempts and concerns over the rising costs of its development. .
