Washington: Spokesperson of the US Department of Treasury, Ned Price, has assured Pakistan of assistance to restore the economy, saying that Pakistan should continue its economic reforms to fulfill its commitments to the IMF.

According to the World News Agency, the spokesperson of the US Department of State, Ned Price, in response to a question asked in a news briefing, urged Pakistan to continue its economic reforms to fulfill the commitments made to the IMF.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs further said that the US will continue to help and support the economic reforms of Pakistan after the economy has been restored. He also pointed out that US support for Pakistan is unconditional.
At the event, spokesman Ned Price also announced an additional $100 million for flood relief and reconstruction in Pakistan, bringing US aid to Pakistan to over $200 million.

The journalist asked if this US aid would depend on the ongoing economic reforms in Pakistan. Spokesperson Ned Price said that this is ultimately the decision of the IMF, but the US certainly wants to see Pakistan on the path of reform.
